The Issimo Restaurant at JIA, located at the intersection of Nanjing East Road and Taixing Road, is designed by famed designer Darryl Goveas. For a project where style and design expectations were so intensely high, lighting is not only one element amongst many but rather the principle medium used to create the mood, ambience, and atmosphere. In collaboration with the interior designers, special attention was given to the careful selection and detailed installation of the luminares. The end result is a restaurant where guests indulge in world-class service and culinary delights amidst a relaxing atmosphere enhanced through the careful blending of light and shadow. Ever since establishing its first designer hotel in Hong Kong, JIA hotels have been catering to a fashionable and stylish clientele who have nothing but the highest expectations for design. JIA hotels strive to provide their guests with a home away from home, attaching significant meaning to the name JIA – the Chinese word for "home.” JIA Shanghai is housed within a European-styled building built in 1925. Despite its age, the building has been carefully protected and preserved, thereby retaining Shanghai’s signature flair. Working closely with the interior designers, special attention was given to the selection and installation of the luminaries. The end result is a restaurant where guests indulge in world-class service and culinary delights amidst a relaxing atmosphere enhanced through the careful blending of light and shadow.
